The short version:
This is just a website. It’s not a big deal. There’s no reason to get all upset about the opinions I express here. I give you my permission to not read Taido/Blog.
If you have any questions or comments, please by all means, get in touch. I’m actually a pretty nice person, and I would love to hear from you.
Unfortunately, some people need everything spelled out for them. Since we live in an increasingly litigious society, I have to waste some bandwidth here to remind certain readers of certain obvious facts. Reading this site implies acceptance of the terms outlined below. I mean it.
The long version:
Basic Provisions: The first thing you need to understand is that this web site has nothing to do with any official Taido organization. It is produced by me - Andy Fossett. Nothing you find on this site implies certification, warranty, or guarantee beyond my say-so.
I create the content specifically for this site. Some of my content is related to the general Taido knowledge base - the official texts and traditions of Taido practice. Anyone having spent any significant time practicing Taido will have already encountered this information, and you could get most of it by asking your own instructor.
That said, I believe that students should supplement their knowledge by reading books and articles related to sports training, educational theory, and developmental psychology. Unfortunately, most Taido teachers have not done significant study in these areas, and only a very few of them are professional educators or sports coaches. Despite their years of experience, there are many things they (and I) do not know. An intelligent student seeks beyond his instructors’ expertise. Some of the content on Taido/Blog is inspired by my own such studies.
Another Thing: I am not a doctor. As such, I am not qualified to offer you any advice on the subject of your personal health. If you are planning to follow any of the guidelines I provide with regards to health, diet, or exercise, you do so at your own risk. Use some common sense when it comes to your safety and health. I am not liable for your failure to take responsibility for your own well-being.
It would be wise to consult a physician before attempting to perform any of the movements I describe here, especially as many of them are pretty athletic. Since this site was written from the perspective of a relatively young and healthy person involved in daily personal development, it would be a mistake to assume that you are capable of doing any of this stuff without working up to it gradually.
Addressing Potential Political BS: In the past, I have been subjected to angry e-mails, threats, bullying, and other forms of sandbox politics by various folks claiming to be authorities regarding the contents of my websites. These people seem to think that such childish behavior is worthy of my respect. They are incorrect. Do not bother sending me ultimatums and threats; they will be used to make you look foolish. If you have a complaint, please find a way to express it in a manner appropriate to adult communication. I am not above learning from your comments and criticisms, provided you evince some intelligence and maturity in your delivery.
For the Sake of Total Clarity, Please Be Aware: Contents of this site are produced solely under the authority of me, Andy Fossett. I do not claim expert status. Nor do I claim to represent any Taido organization. Nor am I all that concerned with what you may happen to think of me.
Thanks for understanding.
